California’s Oldest Youth ORchestra. Founded in 1936.

OUR MISSION IS TO GUIDE YOUNG MUSICIANS TO ACHIEVE EXCELLENCE WITHIN AN ORCHESTRAL SETTING.

WE ENCOURAGE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME EXEMPLARY MUSICIANS, AND YOUNG MUSICIANS TO BECOME EXEMPLARY PEOPLE.

We’re excited to kick off the season at the Solano Stroll this Sunday, September 14 — and we’d love to see you there! A free, all-day street festival in Berkeley & Albany.

TWO (2) Sites to Visit!:

  • Performance Stage | 10 AM – 12 PM | Lower Solano Near Oaktown Spice Shop

  • Enjoy live performances by our talented YPSO musicians — a perfect way to start your day at the Stroll!

  • Information & Games Booth | 10 AM – 4 PM | Upper Solano by Andronico's

  • Stop by for fun activities, including our instrument petting zoo, games, a photo booth, and informal music reading. Meet student and parent ambassadors, learn about our programs, and find out how to get involved.

The Young People’s Symphony Orchestra is thrilled to begin a new season of inspiring music-making! As the oldest youth orchestra in California, YPSO continues to guide young musicians to excellence while building friendships, leadership, and a lifelong love of music.

This year we look forward to:

  • ✨ Four exciting subscription concerts (Nov 8, Feb 21, May 2, Jun 7)

  • 🌍 Preparing for our 2026 international tour to Finland & The Baltics

  • 🎶 Returning to the Bay Area Youth Orchestra Festival (BAYOF) at Davies Symphony Hall

  • 🤝 Community concerts and collaborations around the Bay Area
